Dean Coker
Welcome to the Dean of Students blog for Jacksonville University ("JU")! This blog is maintained by Dr. Bryan F. Coker. The intended audience includes students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends who are concerned about student life-related issues at JU. We encourage blog followers, especially students, to provide feedback to Dean Coker via e-mail at bcoker1@ju.edu. This is the Dean’s way of connecting, in a new way, with the student community... So, connect with your Dean!

Division of Student Life & James Dean
In the absence of an inspired post today, I am posting a great picture of the Division of Student Life, recently taken by Kristi Mace Sorrow in the JU Marketing & Communications Department.
In the middle, you'll find a life size cut out of James Dean. I am not certain how James became part of Student Life, but he's been around since before I arrived in 2003. He wears a sign saying, "I Need a Ride to the Commons" - he's been wearing this sign for over 4 years now, as he first adorned it when we were moving from the Howard Administration Building to the Davis Student Commons back in Fall 2006. James has taken on a variety of personas over the years, wearing wigs, Santa hats, etc. If you would like to meet James in person, he can always be found in the Student Life Office - Davis Student Commons, 3rd floor. James hangs out behind Ms. Susan's desk, constantly looking over her shoulder - he's such a micromanager.
